Artist Corner

Fall is a beautiful time of year.  The leaves are turning, mums are in the garden and apples are ready to pick.  We'll be painting a landscape in the next class which can easily be turned into Autumn Scenes. Actually any of the landscape paintings we do can be changed to match the season.

I've been watching a lot of you-tube videos of different artists.  There are several that I really enjoy watching.  Some of these artists paint in Acrylics, some in Oils and some in all mediums.  Here are just a few that you may want to check out if you haven't already.

Jerry Yarnell is an Acrylic painter and an excellent teacher.  You can see some of his older classes on you-tube. You can also watch his shows on the Create TV channel. https://www.yarnellschool.com

Andrew Tischler is from New Zealand and does the most beautiful landscapes, wildlife and portraits.  You can watch him on you-tube or his website.

Jessica Henry is an oil painter.  I like the way she explains what and why she's doing certain techniques in her you-tube videos.  She’s definitely worth watching. https://jessicahenryfineart.com

Stefan Baumann  teaches classes in California and posts you-tube videos of parts of the lectures he gives in class.  He also has a show called The Grand View in which he does plein air paintings of various national parks.  You can see the shows on you-tube or PBS. http://www.stefanbaumann.com

I encourage you to watch different artists and see the differences in how they create.  You may take something away from each of them to incorporate into your own work.

Happy Painting,

Janice

Painting Tips:

When out and about take pictures of scenes you might want to paint or incorporate into a painting. Put these photos along with pictures taken from magazines, pamphlets or internet sources to use as reference photos for your paintings.
