Artist Corner

It's hard to believe that Summer is over and Fall is upon us.   August was a very busy month for me.  I traveled to Braselton Georgia where I took a Joyce Ortner seascape workshop.  If you aren't familiar with Joyce Ortner's seascapes they are truly amazing.   She really brings out the eye of the wave and accents the breakers with soft colors reflected from the sky.   I have several hanging in my studio from previous classes I've taken with Joyce.   Sadly, Joyce passed away in 2015 but her technique is carried on by her Master instructors.  This was the first workshop offered since Joyce's passing and it was a great time.   We painted 2 seascapes in 3 days.  I've posted them in my gallery.    

From Geogia I traveled to New Smyrna Beach, Florida where I took a week long Advanced Seascape Class taught by Ellen Tye, a Bob Ross Master Trainer.  Each day was a different scene focusing on movement of the water,  waves with large breakers, waves crashing against rocks and sunset scenes.   I've posted these in my gallery as well.  

There will be a seascape class scheduled sometime soon.  

If you're looking for things to do on the weekend, Saturday September 16th is Saratoga Arts in the Park.   The event is held in Congress Park.   Painters of all genres, sculpters, jewlery makers, etc. display their art.  There is also music and food.   It's a fun day and the art work is amazing.  http://www.saratoga.com/event/art-in-the-park-60541/

Painting Tips:

Make sure to clean your brushes thoroughly after painting. Brushes can be expensive and dry paint in the bristles and ferral can ruin them.
