Happy New Year!!!

January classes have been posted.

For this year I am going to try very hard to not repeat Landscape paintings. Also, I'll be sending out reminders a few days before class.

The 2 classes coming up are suitable for beginners. The colors on "Golden Glow" can be switched up to blues or another transparent color.

The mountains in "Portrait of Winter" can be lessened to just one mountain range. As I was writing this newsletter I couldn't remember the name of the painting. I had written it on the canvas so when I went out to check it said "Portrait of Death" !!!!!!!!!!

When I paint I listen to audio books. One of my favorite authors is J.D. Robb (also known as Nora Roberts). This series of books are always named "_____ in Death". So I was probably listening to one of these books and wrote Death instead of Winter. Kevin got a big kick out of it.

I'll be away from Jan 18 - March 2. Classes will resume in March.

When registering for a class if you do not receive an almost immediate confirmation please email me at janice@paintingbug.com. It may not have gone through correctly.

Also, if you try to register for a class and it's "Sold Out" email me. I may be able to add another person or let you know if there's a cancellation.

All classes are $50 which includes all supplies.

We will take a short break during class so bring a snack if you'd like. Water, coffee and tea are provided. Also, there is a small refridgerator if you need to keep anything cold. Weather permitting we can have our break on the new deck.

Class times are 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. However, the 1:00 pm end time may vary depending on the painting and pace of the class.

Keep in mind that you'll be going home with a wet oil painting that will need to lay flat in the car. Some people use a large pizza box (bigger than 16 x 20) or you can purchase wet canvas carriers online.

Class size is limited to 6 students.

If you've registered for a class and are unable to attend please let me know as soon as possible so I can release your spot to someone else.

Artist Tip:

Take care of your brushes.   Make sure you clean them thoroughly.  I've found that standing brushes up after they've been cleaned will help drain out more of the thinner.

The average time for an oil painting to dry, when painted in the wet-on-wet technique, can be two to three weeks to the touch and up to about six months to one year to dry completely.
